Remote Learning
Remote Learning Policy – Little Stanion Primary School
This policy outlines Little Stanion's approach to remote learning, ensuring continuity of education for all pupils during periods when in-person attendance is not possible or advised, such as during local lockdowns, self-isolation, or other circumstances as determined by the Department for Education (DfE) or Public Health England (PHE). This policy aims to provide a high-quality learning experience that is accessible, engaging, and supportive for all pupils, regardless of their background or circumstances.
This remote learning policy aims to:
- Provide a consistent and high-quality educational experience for all pupils during periods of remote learning.
- Ensure all pupils have access to the curriculum and resources necessary for their learning.
- Maintain effective communication between the school, pupils, and parents/carers.
- Support the well-being of pupils and staff during remote learning periods.
- Provide clear expectations for pupils, parents/carers, and staff regarding remote learning.
- Ensure compliance with DfE guidance and relevant legislation.
- Remote Learning Provision
- Curriculum: The curriculum delivered remotely will be as closely aligned as possible to the in-school curriculum, focusing on core subjects and key skills development. Adaptations may be necessary to suit the remote learning environment.
Delivery Methods: Remote learning will be delivered using a variety of methods, including:
- Live online lessons (where appropriate and feasible)
- Pre-recorded video lessons
- Online learning platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams or Purple Mash)
- Worksheets and other downloadable resources
- Project-based learning activities
- Offline activities (where access to technology is limited)
- Accessibility: The school is committed to ensuring that remote learning is accessible to all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Reasonable adjustments will be made as necessary, and school-based support plans (SBSPs) will be considered. We will work with parents/carers to identify and address any barriers to access.
- Technology: The school will utilise Microsoft Teams and Purple Mash as its primary learning platforms. Training and support will be provided to pupils, parents/carers, and staff on using these platforms. The school will explore options for providing devices or internet access to pupils in need, subject to available resources. A clear Acceptable Use Policy for online platforms will be in place and communicated to all stakeholders.
- Safeguarding: Safeguarding remains a priority during remote learning. All staff will adhere to the school’s safeguarding policy when interacting with pupils online. Live lessons will be monitored, and appropriate reporting procedures will be followed for any safeguarding concerns. Guidance on online safety will be provided to pupils and parents/carers.
- Attendance: The school will monitor pupil engagement and attendance during remote learning. Registers will be taken for live lessons, and completion of assigned work will be tracked. Parents/carers will be contacted if there are concerns about a pupil’s engagement or attendance.
- Assessment: Pupil progress will be assessed through a variety of methods, including online quizzes, assignments, project work, and teacher feedback. Formative assessment will be used to inform teaching and learning, and summative assessments will be used to track pupil progress.
